Sarah Jessica Parker adopted Carrie’s ‘And Just Like That’ cat
Life is imitating art for Sarah Jessica Parker, who recently became the new owner of the same cat her character adopted in the latest season of “And Just Like That…”
The Emmy-winning actress and producer revealed on Tuesday that her family welcomed Carrie Bradshaw’s onscreen fur baby, Shoe, into their real-life home.
“His off-camera name is Lotus,” Parker wrote in an Instagram caption, along with several images of the tabby. “If he looks familiar, that’s because he is.”
In the final episodes of the “Sex & the City’’ reboot, Che Diaz (played by Sara Ramírez) brings the rescue kitten to Carrie’s apartment. After falling in love with the feline, the widowed author decides to keep him for herself. She names him Shoe — not only for her obsession with fancy footwear, but for his love of sleeping in her shoeboxes.
Adopted from the Connecticut Humane Society in April, Lotus joins the other two cats — Rémy and Smila — that Parker and her husband, actor Matthew Broderick, brought into their household last year.
“[Lotus] and his siblings were all given botanical names when they were rescued as newborns by the @cthumanesociety,” Parker explained.
The nonprofit animal rescue organization also posted additional details about Lotus on Facebook.
“Some pets get really exciting foster homes while they’re here at the Connecticut Humane Society. Little Lotus got to be on the set of ‘And Just Like That’ with @SarahJessicaParker in Manhattan! Did you see his adorable debut? And #spoileralert, Lotus liked the spotlight so much, he’s decided to stay on the show!”
