Lance Reddick’s wife says actor died ‘far too soon’; co-stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry pay tribute

The widow of actor Lance Reddick said he was “taken from us far too soon” as co-stars and fans continued to pay tribute.

Reddick, who starred as Lt. Cedric Daniels on the crime drama “The Wire,” died Friday at age 60.

“Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day,” Stephanie Reddick wrote Saturday on the actor’s social media pages. “I see your messages and can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them.”

Some fan tributes found ways to incorporate the video game series “Destiny,” for which Reddick voiced the character Commander Zavala.

Thank you for this,” read a tweet shared on Reddick’s account Sunday in response to one of the “Destiny” tributes.

Reddick’s publicist said he died “suddenly” of natural causes.

The actor was also known for his portrayal of the hotel concierge Charon in the “John Wick” movies. He’s set to appear posthumously in the franchise’s fourth installment, which premieres Friday.

“My love and prayers are with the family at this very sad time,” Halle Berry, who starred in “John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum,” commented on Stephanie Reddick’s post. “Lance was one of the most sincere people I’d ever met. Truly one of a kind.”

Director Chad Stahelski and star Keanu Reeves said “John Wick 4″ will be dedicated to Reddick, while “The Wire” creator David Simon described Reddick as the “consummate professional, devoted collaborator, lovely and gentle man.”

“A man of great strength and grace,” tweeted Wendell Pierce, who starred on “The Wire” with Reddick. “As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. An sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here.”
