Driver plummets two stories off Hudson Parkway into west side park

An elderly driver ended his commute in the emergency room after plowing his car through a guardrail on the Hudson Parkway on Thursday, plummeting towards the green space below.

The 78-year-old motorist was heading northbound on the Henry Hudson Parkway near W. 135th St. when he lost control of his white SUV at around 1 p.m., according to police.

The vehicle smashed through the concrete rail separating motorists from the sheer two-story drop towards the Riverbank State Park below, where the SUV landed on its passenger side in a gated area.

Paramedics rushed the driver to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, according to police sources.

The driver was alone in the vehicle and no park goers were injured in the mayhem, cops said.
