Cops cuff alleged killer who stabbed father of five to death in the Bronx
Police arrested one of two men wanted for stabbing a 36-year-old man to death in the Bronx, cops announced Tuesday.
Angel Silva, 47, was charged with murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon for the slaying of 36-year-old father of five Jyleal Connor, according to police.
Silva and another man attacked Conner near E. 149th St. and Bergen Ave. in Mott Haven around 11:35 a.m. Saturday, stabbing him multiple times, cops said.
Medics rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he died, according to law enforcement.
His killers split up and hightailed it on foot, said police.
Conner, who had four sons and a daughter, was slain less than a mile from the apartment where he lived with his uncle following a move from Philadelphia to the Bronx a few months ago, according to his sister.
“His children are not handling it well,” Ebony Conner, 39, previously told the Daily News. “They’re in the same level or state of grief as everyone else.”
The victim came to the Bronx for a fresh start but was beginning to wonder if he had made the right move, his family said. He worked odd jobs, including cutting hair.
“He could sing, he could dance, he could rap,” his sister said. “He was extremely funny. … He was not perfect, but we loved him and we are very saddened at how he was taken from us.”
The arrest comes just over a week after police released surveillance footage of Conner’s suspected killers.
